Update on Suez Canal Blockage - Queue of Vessels have diminished since Ever Given was Refloated

Image

The Suez Canal was blocked since 23rd March’21 as a container ship ‘Ever Given’ operated by Evergreen Marine was knocked off course by strong winds and a sandstorm.
After several efforts, the Suez Canal tugs were finally able to refloat the vessel. Over 200 ships were stuck in the traffic on either side of the Canal which carries about 12% of global trade. The traffic has resumed & daily sailings have started to normalise.

However, there is still delay in ETAs. Some vessels are either waiting at the Canal or being redirected by the South of Africa. Carriers are determining full acceptance of short-term bookings based on the ports and equipment availability. Several services are getting back on schedule.
